After leaving my home town of Manchester, England, I spent several years working as an editor and writer in London, before I migrated to Melbourne, Australia. I relocated again in 2018, and I now write features, fiction and digital content from San Francisco. I’ve been lucky to travel widely, and the written word has been my one constant through it all.
My writing about travel, food, history and culture has been published by BBC Travel, Compass Magazine, CNN, Culture Trip, Escapism Magazine, Frommer’s, The Independent, LoveExploring, Morning Calm, Rough Guides, The Telegraph, Tonic Magazine, Travel DK, TravelSupermarket, World Travel Guide and more. Read some of my features on my writing page or my portfolio on Contently.
I'm also an author for Lonely Planet’s best-selling travel guides. Recent publications include Lonely Planet’s latest editions on France, Eastern Europe, Israel & the Palestinian Territories, Romania & Bulgaria, Thailand, Malaysia and New Zealand. Coming soon: Australia and New York City.
Formerly a Digital Editor and Web Copywriter for global travel brand Lonely Planet, I have a strong track record of building bespoke content plans and writing copy to drive traffic to transactional spaces. Building on this experience, I continue to write copy and plan campaigns for various travel and lifestyle brands.

As a freelance editor, I thrive on bringing large projects to life. For web and print, I’m experienced in developing ideas into content plans, hunting out the best contributors, and copy-editing their work until it shines. One of my recent projects is Everyday Adventures, a compendium of stories about the art of mindful travel.
Another project that I commissioned and edited in full is going to the printers soon, Secret City, an insider’s guide to 50 of the world’s most exciting cities. In the age of Airbnb, where travel like a local is winning out over touristic highlights, this experiential travel bible is an indispensable guide.

I am an Oxford-educated linguist, an NCTJ-accredited journalist, and a sub-editor with experience in news, magazines and journals. I’m also a fan of horror movies, heavy metal and skiing...those count as skills, right?
